Higher premiums and lower wages |

C-SPAN has never been as interesting as it is today.  At the Health Care Reform and Finance Committee Markup Vote (in progress from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. today), the Director of the Congressional Budget Office and the Chief of Staff of the Joint Committee on Taxation were among those being questioned.

Among the many interesting things said, of particular note here is one made by Senator Mike Enzi (Wyoming), who is also the ranking member on the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee.  In his preamble to his questioning he noted the remarkable nature of this health care reform bill:

“I have never before worked on a bill that affected everyone.”

So if you have a parent, a child, or you yourself are a human being that is presently living, you may want to consider some things right about now.  Take some time off from work and read some opinions. Then, get your own opinion.  And then tell someone;  the folks voting on it would be a good place to start.  … So, take the rest of the day off.  Tell your boss it is Hugo’s Birthday.
